Help meet the need in our community for care kits that support individuals' well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this volunteer activity, you will need to provide supplies and assemble the kits in your own space, then deliver the care kits to our offices. Learn more and sign up HERE.

Hygiene Care Kits
These kits will help individuals experiencing homelessness that come to Caritas of Austin to access hygiene products. Project consists of filling plastic bags with the following items: shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper (if available), body wash, razors, deodorant. These kits will be handed out to our walk-in clients. Sharing this project on your personal social media is greatly appreciated!

COVID-19 Care Kits
These kits will help individuals experiencing homelessness protect themselves from exposure to COVID-19. Project consists of filling plastic bags with the following items: cloth mask or bandanna, water bottle, Emergen-C or Vitamin C packets, socks, gloves (disposable latex if available, otherwise any form of glove for protection), bar of soap. These kits will be handed out to our walk-in clients. Sharing this project on your personal social media is greatly appreciated!

Snack Care Kits
These kits will help individuals experiencing homelessness that come to Caritas of Austin to access healthy snacks. Project consists of filling plastic bags with the following items (if not all are available, as many as you can find): granola bars, Slim Jims, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, water bottles, Emergen-C or Vitamin C packets. Homemade Face Mask
Our neighbors experiencing homelessness are at higher risk during COVID-19 due to a lack of access to showers or sinks and a lack of access to medical intervention. So, we are asking our volunteers to make homemade masks out of any tightly woven cloth they have at home. a. Bandanna Mask – This is simple. If you have any clean bandannas at home you are willing to donate, we will hand them out to walk-in clients. b. PPE Kits for Front-Line Staff
These kits will help staff and clients stay safe when meeting face-to-face for case management services. The project consist of filling plastic bags with the following items: Hand Sanitizer, a couple of masks, and a couple sets of non-latex or latex gloves. These kits will be used when Case Managers meet with clients. Gathering material for the kits can be done by coordinating a donation drive or donating the products listed and putting the kits together.
