Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA) was founded in 1987 by a group of tax professionals and concerned citizens who recognized a growing need for free tax preparation and representation services for low-income taxpayers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

believes that all taxpayers deserve the opportunity to file accurate, timely tax returns.
provides comprehensive, cost-effective, professional income tax assistance to low-income members of our community—all without charge.
prepares all federal and state tax returns year-round including prior-year returns for low income-taxpayers.

Over 200 volunteers donate their time and expertise each year to CTA clinics located in libraries, churches, and community centers in Washington, D.C.; Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland; and the City of Alexandria, and Arlington County in Virginia.
