I attended a Skills builder that focused on the mental health of students in the midst of the pandemic.
4/9-Worked for 30 minutes with Amen on math and grammar
In order to educate myself more on tutoring and teaching as well as fulfill a skills builder I watched three webinars and did write ups on them. All of these were extremely interesting as they discussed race in different aspects of education. Watching these was quite beneficial for me to learn about race in education and how racism and trauma effects students. This is something necessary for me to educate myself on as it is something I have never experienced as a white women. I attached my write ups with further reflection.
Students worked individually on a magazine project.
We had a guest speaker today, Nayion Perkins who is a graphic designer. He answered questions from the brothers and discussed with us all about his work in creating his own brand. We then went into scholar hour where the boys did homework and I helped one on one tutor.
Jack and I went over the topic of Summarizing and he really enjoyed the student read aloud which was about Robots!
04/07/2021 - Math and English work which included watching a video and then describing what happened and math homework (2 hours)
Maddy and I reviewed summarizing and she knew it perfectly! We also began discussing predictions and she did a wonderful job with that.
0.75 hour - Maddy's lesson
0.25 hour - set up and talking with Cate (assistant coordinator)
Another great day! I helped a student in a breakout room and we were able to complete a good chunk of the assignment.
